Horse Wisdom Yoga® - What exactly is HWY?
What is Horse Wisdom Yoga®?
It is NOT Yoga on a Horse. The meaning of Yoga is “union”. Honoring the Wisdom of Horses guides unity of Mind, Body and Spirit while bringing a deeper connection to all aspects of Life and Nature. Horse Wisdom Yoga® combines the ancient theories & practices of Yoga with the ancestral wisdom of Horses for an empowering experience of self-discovery. History indicates a spiritual connection between Humans and Horses dating back thousand years.
What Happens in a Session?
A private session is client centered where the client is the expert of their own self-discovery and healing. The HWY Teacher is present to create, hold, and support the space within which the client explores their own authenticity and inner wisdom. The Horses are ultimately the willing teachers in leading the journey of connection to all of nature which becomes the guide to connection with the authentic self. Parents are not usually part of a session, as it gives the participant the freedom to connect with only their heart space.
A session is around 1.5 hours, and it begins in an indoor room where the client and HWY Teacher connect and the client is guided to move from their mind to their body and heart space. Then the client and HWY teacher walk to the Horses space (outside) for the Horses’ willing participation as the Teacher. If a person is not comfortable in the space of the Horses, a lot can be learned over a fence. The session ends with a form of Art as therapy, which is an amazing process for the client to express what is revealed to them through their session.
Who is HWY for?
Horse Wisdom Yoga® is for everyone. No yoga experience is required and the client remains on the ground. Our journey through life has its ups and downs, and sometimes we all can feel a little lost, feel like we are struggling, cannot find direction or our purpose and we also tend to over think things. This practice allows an avenue to connect with oneself and find some clarity.
The exercises are designed for children ages 8 and up. With a younger client, a consultation with the child and parent will be required to determine whether HWY is a fit for your child. Safety is always a priority and a child needs to be able to follow safety protocols.
What Needs to be Done Before a Session?
- Waiver forms are to be signed prior to starting a session. It is a great form of communication to become aware of the risks and safety protocols of working with Horses. Closed toed shoes are mandatory (no crocs, or dock shoes).
- Payment of $110 is to be received when booking a session.
- We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. There is a lot of preparation for both the Horses and the HWY Teacher for each session, which takes place well before the client arrives for their sessions.
- Please send payments through e-transfer to: firstname.lastname@example.org
